Questions about Porcelain Veneers
Burke, Fairfax and Fairfax Station, Virginia
What problems can porcelain veneers correct?
Porcelain veneers are an ideal way to correct a wide range of cosmetic issues with your smile. Burke, Virginia cosmetic dentist Dr. Pamela Marzban commonly uses porcelain veneers to address issues such as teeth that are:
- Cracked or chipped
- Gapped or unevenly spaced
- Misshapen or irregularly sized
- Severely discolored
How are porcelain veneers placed?
Porcelain veneers are placed over the front of your existing teeth. To do this, Dr. Marzban will need to remove a small amount of your natural tooth enamel. This allows your veneers to fit perfectly over your natural teeth, providing a seamless and beautiful smile.
How long does it take to get porcelain veneers?
Porcelain veneers are placed over two office visits spaced one to two weeks apart. During your first appointment, your teeth will be prepared and a mold will be made of your teeth. This mold will be sent to our dental lab partners where your porcelain veneers will be customized to meet your exact specifications. Once your custom veneers have been created, you will return to our office for final placement.
How long do porcelain veneers last?
The lifetime of your porcelain veneers will be dependent on how well you care for them as well as the care you take of your teeth in general. Because porcelain is stain resistant and incredibly strong, your veneers can maintain their beautiful, straight, and brilliantly white appearance for several years. Veneers can be replaced one at a time as needed to help extend your results for a lifetime.
How should I care for my porcelain veneers?
Caring for your porcelain veneers is no different than caring for your natural teeth. Brushing after every meal, flossing at least once a day, and minimizing your intake of sugary snacks are good steps to take at home. You should also be sure to visit Dr. Marzban every six months for professional cleanings to ensure your veneers and entire mouth stay healthy and strong for years to come.
