Not Your Grandparents’ Dentures
In the past, dentures were often ill-fitting, uncomfortable, and seemingly built to be replaced. To make matter worse, dentures of yore could only be held in place by adhesives that were, as often as not, less than adhesive, allowing false teeth to slip out at inopportune times and seriously restricting what foods could be eaten.
As with all dental appliances, dentures have come a long way. In fact, the new dentures offered by Fairfax dentist Dr. Pamela Marzban can even look, feel, and function like your natural teeth. Better still, they can be secured in place with dental implants, providing a reliable hold while also preventing jaw shrinkage, and enabling your dentures to last for years.
Implant Supported Dentures
There are two types of implant supported dentures:
- Ball retained – Balls on the back of your false teeth are attached to sockets in a dental implant. These are best for partial dentures
- Bar retained – Dentures are clipped to a bar running between dental implants. These are best for full dentures
The type of denture that you require will be based on your unique needs. Dr. Marzban will be happy to discuss this, along with other tooth replacement options, during your initial consultation.
If you live in or around the Burke, Fairfax, or Fairfax Station areas of Virginia and would like to learn more about your tooth replacement options, please contact the Dental Practice of Dr. Pamela Marzban today to schedule an initial consultation.
